Seasonal Resource Page for 2026
The word Epiphany refers to a "manifestation" or "appearance" of God. Throughout this season of the Church year, we hear many stories of how Jesus manifested the power of God in his earthly ministry, teaching with authority, performing miracles, casting out demons, and healing diseases. We celebrate this Season of Light by giving glory to Jesus Christ, the True Light who has come into the world.

Chinese Lantern Pattern
Epiphany is the Season of Light. Use this craft with the kids in your parish to emphasize this Light of the World who has come into our lives. String a bunch of colored lanterns in the worship space to remind worshippers of the Light of the World. (It will work on legal-size paper too.) Burying the Alleluia at the End of Epiphany
Some congregations have the tradition of "Burying the Alleluia" during Lent (that is, in honor of the penitential nature of the season, the celebratory word Alleluia is omitted from the liturgy during the season of Lent).
As a way of communicating this custom to kids, try using this activity during the children's sermon on Transfiguration Sunday: Prior to the service, paint in glitter glue the word "Alleluia" on wide purple ribbons, with enough for each child (If you don't have time to create something, use this PDF: Alleluias for Hiding, which can be printed, copied and cut). During the children's message on Transfiguration Sunday, have the children place these ribbons in a decorated box. Keep the closed box somewhere visible throughout the season of Lent, so the children can see the box but not the ribbons.
At the end of Lent, prior to worship on Easter morning, hide the ribbons throughout the sanctuary (such as on pews and in books) for the children to find. Open the now-empty box during the children's message on Easter and talk about the promise of the empty tomb!
